A dark poem of once, wrote, and poem, holding fear, fracture and survival in view.
April 25, 2004Early Notebooks
I once wrote a poem of love and hate,
and hitched a ride upon its fate.
The words they carried me far away,
tales of emotions gone astray.
Swallowing pride, choking down the ache,
clogging my heart with every mistake.
Demoting echoes that once were strong,
now just whispers, where they don’t belong.
Running thoughts race aground,
a chaotic chorus, a hollow sound.
But a change is coming, I’ll take my due,
a path untrodden, a life renewed.
Pleasures in time, they lure and ensnare,
I’ll tread with caution, forever beware.
For love and hate, they blur and bind,
but I’m forging forward, leaving it behind.
