All alone in your head, yet I hear the echoes— breeding odds against sleep, a restless tide pulling us under. Disappearing life, like whispers lost in fog— we slip toward a pit where light dares not tread. Deeds of loss pile up, one by one, like stones in the pockets of our souls. An active role in a demise we cannot name— whether yours or mine, his or hers— it doesn’t matter; the end is the same. For a life within another is a slow, silent thief, stealing breath from the spaces between us. Your dreams become mine, my fears bleed into yours, and together we drift on the edge of collapse. Sleep fades like a dying star, a distant glimmer swallowed by the void. And we, entwined shadows, keep falling deeper, arms wrapped tight around the darkness we cannot release. In this shared abyss, where boundaries blur and names are forgotten, we lose ourselves in the hollow comfort of knowing the end will come— and when it does, we will be as one.
