A recorded reading of “Beneath the Quiet Sky”. If the player does not load, use the original audio source.
Alone, beneath a sky that holds its breath, I wander through the stillness of my mind. Thoughts circle like vultures around a heart too fragile to hold— cracked by the weight of wanting, the echo of what was left behind. I lay my cards on the table: aces and spades, a game I can’t win. Squares and holes, patterns that never fit— a puzzle missing pieces, a story left unwritten. Hope is a thorn that pierces as I grasp, a flicker jabbing at my ribs just to remind me of all I’ve let go. Each step forward feels like a stumble, a stride toward something I no longer know. So I learn to let the light fade, to release the dreams I once held like a prayer. I surrender to the quiet, to the weight of the night, to the hollow comfort of not needing to fight. For there’s peace in giving up, a stillness in knowing that sometimes, to carry on is to stop chasing shadows and finally sit in the darkness, alone.
