In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen. Let my light still burn, just a little longer— give me your name to hold onto, but be quiet— just let me live, just this instant, just this moment. Then, take me with you when the time is right. Let me pray a little longer, let me run away one last time. I’ll come back to you, I always come back. Who was sent to find me? Is there someone waiting in the shadows? I’m not blind— but somehow, I see nothing. Is this the time? Is it now? The seconds drip like candle wax, melting into the unknown. May I still say something? Is anyone listening? Does it matter? Who would notice if I spoke? The silence is thick, a blanket that smothers every word. Did it happen already? Is it over? Or is this just the beginning of an end I cannot see? I reach out, but the air is empty, the answers dissolve before they form. Let me run, let me pray, let me linger in the space between the question and the answer. Just one more moment, just one more breath before I surrender to whatever comes next. For if it happened, if it's done, will you remember me when I am gone? Or will I fade into the ether, a whisper in the wind that no one heard? In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
