Valentines for a passing, a fleeting dance, testing the limits of inner romance. Searching for that soul mate, a heart to mend, only to find the cycle begins again. A whispered promise, a hopeful start, but love fades quickly, tearing apart. Discarded in turn, like petals torn, the bloom of romance withers and is worn. Switching in haste, from heart to heart, hoping each touch will light a spark. But the chase is hollow, the passion thin, a carousel of longing that never lets me in. Rebounding at truth, I face the lie— was I searching for love, or a way to get by? For in the endless quest, the rush, the thrill, I lost myself on this endless hill. A Valentine sent, yet never received, caught in illusions that I believed. The soul mate I sought was always near, hidden within, beyond the fear. So I test the limits, but now I see— the love I’ve chased was inside of me. No more searching, no more haste, for the truest love is found in grace. Valentines for a passing, no more in vain, I reclaim my heart, I break the chain. For the soul mate I sought, the one I yearned, was the one in the mirror, waiting to be turned.
