At platform nine, the storm tears the crow's nest open. Blue tickets lift past the signal post. Rain thins stops, fares, names to grey at every fold. One skims the track. One sticks to a shutter beside a kitchen window holding its square of supper light. The crow calls. A roof answers, then the next. Wings pass them along: from shutter hook, past shuttered shops, to the wire. By dawn, small flags stitch roof to roof. The first train passes. Its wind lifts each blue corner.
