I once wrote a poem of love and hate, hitched a ride upon its back— a wild beast of words that carried me through storms of passion, through deserts of regret. Tales of emotion, rain falling down, swallowing pride’s choking frown. I cast away the echoes of promises I couldn’t keep, letting them sink like stones into the depths of sleep. Thoughts raced like waves but crashed aground, the tide of my mind a restless sea. I let them break upon the rocks of certainty— knowing change was the only shore left to see. A change forever, I swear— yet I tread with caution now, for time’s pleasures are laden with teeth that bite, with shadows that dance in the corners of night. So I write again— another verse of love and loss, a quieter journey on a path untraced— knowing that in time all fires burn low, and what we cherish we must let go.
