A dark poem of live, pave, and way, holding fear, fracture and survival in view.
February 27, 2004Early Notebooks
Is there any reason to live through this day?
The time to find time, to pave a new way.
But why can’t I feel safe? I’m drowning in despair,
adrift on dark waters, with no one to care.
Help me find a way, don’t leave me alone,
I’m a wanderer in shadows, searching for home.
All my life, I’ve been waiting, a heart grown cold,
lost in a dream where meaning slips its hold.
I’ve been chasing ghosts, dreams that fade,
always someone else to blame for the choices I’ve made.
The past clings like vines, binding me tight,
as I stumble through darkness, reaching for light.
The weight of the world is a storm overhead,
the thunder of regret, the whispers of dread.
I want to believe there’s a dawn to this night,
that beyond these clouds, there’s still a ray of light.
I see the horizon, but it’s far out of reach,
waves crash around me, cold and bleak.
Tell me there’s hope, that the sun will rise,
that there’s still a way through this web of lies.
I long to break free, to swim to the shore,
to find a reason to live, to love once more.
But here I stand, lost in this endless unknown—
help me find a way, don’t leave me alone.
For somewhere beneath this sea of despair,
there’s a flicker of hope, a breath of fresh air.
I reach out for something, someone to hold,
before my heart turns completely cold.
