A resilient poem of swirls, protruding, and hatred, charting self-possession and forward motion.
April 15, 2004Early Notebooks
Swirls of protruding hatred, volunteering to leap,
turning guides that twist, switch, and seep.
Anticipation, the delusion thick,
a game of shadows, a fatal trick.
Let the fight for my death resume,
a battle in darkness, a dance of doom.
Blades of spite cut through the air,
a lighthearted death that doesn't care.
Amused by the echoes of what once was,
remembrance stirs but gives no pause.
In this twisted game, I stand my ground,
where laughter and sorrow are tightly bound.
The end approaches, but do I dare
to step forward, or disappear in despair?
For even in death, there's a cruel delight,
a flicker of hope in the endless night.
