It starts in the ribs— that hollow gnaw. Like something’s missing but you don’t know what. So you fill it with touch, with teeth, with names you forget while you say them. I’ve got wolves inside me. They don’t hunt for food. They hunt for memory. They hunt for him. He smelled like dusk and danger. Touched like instinct. Bit like prophecy. He said want is its own language. And I spoke it, fluently— every gasp, every bruise, every yes I meant and shouldn’t have. We weren’t lovers. We were devourers. Two bodies trying to fold into one but finding only fire in the attempt. I let him eat the parts of me I hated. He licked the wounds clean. Called it mercy. Called it love. But it wasn’t. It was need. And need doesn’t end. It circles. Paces. Howls. He’s gone now, but the wolves remain. And every time I crave, I see his eyes in mine. And I run toward the moon knowing damn well I’ll never reach it.
Lyrics
There’s a hunger under skin Not quite love, not quite sin You appear like heat and bone I forget I’m not alone Teeth in shadow, eyes that burn Every touch a lesson learned Wolves of want, we chase the night Snarling mouths, no wrong or right We don’t love, we ache and crave Wild and doomed, but still we stay You don’t speak, but I still hear The voice of hunger in my ear I give in to what you are A beast that howls beneath my scars You bite, I bleed We feed, we need No rules, just rites No shame, just nights Wolves of want, hearts untamed No leash, no god, no one to blame We run through fire just to burn No road, no end, no safe return
