I tried to wear light. I really did. Folded myself into prayer, bit my tongue every time I wanted to scream your name like a curse. Tried holiness on like a borrowed dress— all shimmer, no fit. It clung to the wrong parts of me. Didn’t hide the want. Didn’t hide the claws. My halo was always too tight. It slid down and choked me. Left marks I couldn’t explain. Marks you kissed like you liked how the pain spelled your name. You said I looked better in ruin. That goodness made me boring. That saints don't moan like I do. And you were right. Because under all this linen, I still have thorns. Still sharp. Still red. Still yours. I sat in confession but the priest flinched when I smiled. Called me "possessed" but I think he just didn’t know what to do with a girl who sins and likes it. I don't want wings. I want fire. I want teeth and breath and skin that screams back when it's touched. Let the angels have their silence. Let the sky stay clean. I belong in the in-between. Where the light ends. Where your hands begin. Where even God might watch and not turn away.
Lyrics
I tried to shine, to wear the light To speak in gold, to do what’s right But halos slip when hands still bleed And saints don’t crave what sinners need I wore your name like second skin And loved the fire I found within Thorns in my halo, grace in sin A holy war I let you win No hymn could cleanse the taste of you No prayer could undo what we do I kissed the cross and bit the flame And whispered lies in your soft name You held me like a last regret A sermon soaked in midnight sweat They call it wrong But we were pure Two sinners Begging not for cure Thorns in my halo, blood in bloom Your touch became my sacred doom We lit the altar just to burn And taught the light how to return
