A library opens where there should be sky— no walls, no roof—only hush, and a long reach of negative space that makes your name light enough to hold. On a pedestal of dusk, an opal book lies open like a tide caught mid-turn, its pages carved, not printed— opal seams, fine fractures, a pale aurora stilled in stone the way breath stills in sleep. You come with questions folded tight, creased like receipts in your pocket. You come with the old weight that tails you from room to room even when the lamps are kind. The book does not speak. It refracts. A finger—yours, or the book’s— follows a line that isn’t ink: a contour-map made of omissions, the sentences you struck through, the ones you kept because they sting. Between the margins, liquid wax pools in bright rivulets, gold-warmed— a wax seal softening, resetting the terms. A tentacle—more ribbon than beast— unfurls to cradle your wrist, unhurried, steering your pulse to the page until your blood recalls its own script. Somewhere, pastel creatures drift— glass-lit, soft as breath against a lens. They hover like commas between worlds, their neon edges promising you can cross the dark without wearing it. You ask for proof. The book offers room. It loosens a tight stitch beneath your ribs the way mist lifts off a field— quietly, without witness— leaving only what was underneath: an ordinary shine, clean as glass. A shelving ladder’s shadow slides, then holds. When you look up, the library is still mostly emptiness, vast and carefully composed, as if the universe has finally remembered to give you space.
Instructional lyrics
[Intro 8b 4/4 — vast room tone + glass chimes + distant choir] [Verse 1 16b 4/4] A library breathes where the ceiling should be No walls, no roof—only hush in the light Negative space makes my name feel weightless Like it’s finally safe to hold it right On a pedestal of dusk, an opal book Open like a tide caught mid-turn Pages carved, not printed—milky fire Honeyfracture, slow aurora, learn And I’m just trying to feel okay [Pre 8b 4/4 lift] I came with questions folded tight Receipts in my pocket, edges worn And the room just widened around me Like it was built for what I’ve borne [Chorus 8b 4/4 bigger, wide] The book don’t speak, it refracts Shows me what I wouldn’t say Contour-maps of all my omissions Turning shame into a way The book don’t speak, it refracts Gives my breath a place to land If the universe remembered space Then I can learn to understand [Verse 2 16b 4/4 pocket] A finger—mine, or maybe the page— Follows a line that isn’t ink Sentences I struck through for survival And yeah, it hurt to write them The ones I kept because they sting Liquid wax pools in gold-warm rivers And I can finally unclench Grammar melting into joints A ribbon-tentacle, more guide than beast Steers my pulse where it points Pastel creatures drift like commas And I don’t feel so weird for it Between worlds, soft as lens-breath Neon edges promising quietly I can cross the dark without wearing it [Pre 8b] I asked for proof, I asked for answers Like love had to be loud to stay But the book just offers room And room is how I change [Chorus 8b] The book don’t speak, it refracts Shows me what I wouldn’t say Contour-maps of all my omissions Turning shame into a way The book don’t speak, it refracts Gives my breath a place to land If the universe remembered space Then I can learn to understand [Bridge 8b 4/4 stripped — voice close + pad] It lifts a small knot from my ribs Like mist lifting off a field No witnesses, no drama Just an ordinary shine revealed And when I look up, it’s still mostly empty Vast, carefully composed Like the universe finally remembered To let my spirit have its own [Final Chorus 8b 4/4 biggest] The book don’t speak, it refracts Shows me what I wouldn’t say Contour-maps of all my omissions Turning shame into a way The book don’t speak, it refracts Gives my breath a place to land If the universe remembered space Then I can learn to understand [Outro 6b fade]
