Last night, they came again— the jelly-ghosts, the blinking spores, the bear-shaped silence with moons for paws. One spoke in bubbles. Another just stared until I forgot my own name and whispered theirs instead. There was a cat made of dusk with two lantern eyes. It walked ahead, left no tracks. I followed anyway. A girl with a bow was painting a slug god’s pulse with her fingertip. She told me: “Every soft thing is sacred.” A creature made entirely of eyes asked what I feared. I said, “Not being seen.” It blinked. Slowly. Everywhere. They danced like melting questions. They wept like kindness mispronounced. And when I woke— my sheets smelled faintly of ozone. Someone had left a single pink scale on my pillow.

(Every soft thing is sacred…) said the girl with a bow, painting a slug god’s pulse with her fingertip. Every soft thing— sacred. A creature made entirely of eyes asked what I feared.
