Her lashes carry a red weather, thin rivers testing the cheek for fault lines. Two black blossoms rise from her hair— petals of wire, beaks for hearts— patient as vultures on a windless mast. The wall behind her is a siren unblinking. Bats unhook, become signatures, ink flung and drying mid-air. Collar of midnight hardware; a mouth lacquered like a verdict. She does not pray. The room tilts toward her throat where a constellated bruise keeps time. Not hunted, she is the cage with the door removed— night enters of its own accord and roosts there, quietly counting.
Alternative version
A red field holds its breath; bats are small knives hung to dry. She stands inside the siren-colour, two carnivores flowering from her hair, their beaks polished like streetlights after rain. Drip. Stitch. Spatter. The wall keeps score. Mascara floods the cutwater of her cheek; the choker is a black hinge, a soft restraint; her mouth a fresh stamp—paid in full. Don’t run. Let the night shoulder past in its leather coat, let the room learn your name the way a blade learns a whetstone, brightening because it’s pressed the right way. All this isn’t a warning; it’s rehearsal. The bats redraw themselves as notes, as routes, as exits scratched into the red. She looks up— and the creatures in her crown go still, two dark clocks agreeing on the hour.
Lyrics
Red wall stares like a siren. Bats unhook, write names mid-air. Two dark flowers rise from hair. Wire petals, beaks beat quiet. Lashes run red down cheek. Room leans hard to her throat. Bruise ticks time, star by star. Open the door More night, more Midnight hardware rings her collar. Her mouth shines like a verdict. She doesn't pray, she watches. The wall keeps score in red. Two dark clocks sit in hair. Bats redraw as notes and routes. Exits scratch into the red. Open the door More night, more Don't run, just stay. Let night lean in. Open the door More night, more
