A recorded reading of “One Square Left of Morning”. If the player does not load, use the original audio source.
The impossible thing is not dramatic. It sits beneath the window as if delivered with the morning post. I circle it once. The pavement keeps its ordinary cracks; my name has simply slipped one square to the left. By evening the window has learned the outline of my displaced name. When I look through it, the street arrives from elsewhere— morning still caught in its teeth.
