In the dim hush of a sunless room, a man in crimson sits—rooted, still— while ember-birds, flightless and flickering, rise and dissolve in slow retreat, each one a splinter of an untold longing. Their wings whisper in silence, a muted revolt, orbiting the edge of the unseen. He watches, unblinking, his gaze a tether— a thread stretched taut between weight and wish. Does he envy the sky they promise, or does their flight bear its own burden? A martyr of moments left unspilled, a keeper of dreams still caged. Time folds between each falling spark, between the hush of embered descent and the climb of another, fragile and fearless. They ascend, untethered. He remains, the anchor beneath their fleeting freedom. Perhaps it is not wings he needs, but the courage to loosen his own gravity, to unchain the alchemy of a boundless sky. And yet, still he sits— a red sentinel of the not-quite-free, watching the flutter of lives he cannot hold, neither soaring nor surrendering, but simply waiting.
Instructional lyrics
[Intro: Sparse, ghostly, atmosp. Soft, revb’d fingerpickin’ on open-tuned acous. Distant hum of layered harmz fades in, like wind thru bare branches. Single low drum echoes like a heartbeat.] [Verse 1: Intim., breathy vox—close, raw] In a sunless room, bathed in rust, He’s anchored down, collecting dust. Flames like birds, they rise, they fall, Little rebels, whispering their call. [Light harmz hover, ghostly but restrained. Single bowed string—violin/cello—barely touches melody.] [Pre-Chorus: Floating, melanch., restrained harmz] Does he dream of the open sky? Or fear the weight of learning to fly? [Harmz swell slightly, revb stretches vox into dist. Perc subtly pulses in, like heartbeat rising.] [Chorus: Wide, soaring—ethereal yet weighted. Layered harmz open like a cathedral choir—airy, hauntin’. Acous strums gain depth, perc swells.] Oh, the gravity of small freedoms, Keeps him waiting, keeps him low. Oh, the tether of unspoken reasons, Holds him tighter than he knows. [Harmonic echoes on “knows” drift into silence, like breath lost in cold air.] [Verse 2: Darker, more urgent—tension grows] Scarlet sparks in slow ascent, Falling stars that came and went. They don’t ask, they don’t plead, They just rise while he still bleeds. [Guitar takes on slow, rollin’ rhythm—like ember-stoked fire growing. Soft, rhythmic perc enters, ghostly bg vox humming.] [Pre-Chorus: Same as before, but harmz bloom] Does he claim their fleeting grace? Or mourn the chains he’s learned to trace? [Higher harmz hover over 2nd line, weightless, aching.] [Chorus: Repeated, but deeper, heavier—like ocean wave pulling in. Perc fuller now—rollin’ drums like dist thunder. Harmz richer, almost gospel-like but drenched in revb.] Oh, the gravity of small freedoms, Keeps him waiting, keeps him low. Oh, the tether of unspoken reasons, Holds him tighter than he knows. [Elec guitar swells in ambient waves, echoing into space.] [Bridge: Climactic, desperate, raw—breaking pt. Full storm hits: deep, rollin’ perc, layered ethereal vox, cresc. guitar strums. Vox cracks open, raw, untamed.] Maybe it ain’t the wings he needs, But the will to cut himself free. To slip the weight, to lift his eyes, To burn his name across the sky. [Perc crashes like dist waves, harmz swell to peak—then suddenly, all cuts out to silence, ’cept 1 lingering guitar note.] [Outro: Hollow, ghostly, unresolved—like embers fading. Just bare vox + single echoey guitar note, fading into revb + space. Harmz return in whisper, like ghosts watchin’ from dark.] And yet, still he stays, the crimson ghost, Not quite flying, not yet lost. Just watching flames take what he won’t, Neither soaring, nor letting go… [Final note lingers, then fades into quiet, like candle’s last flicker.]
