A recorded reading of “Citrus Mind, Fragmented”. If the player does not load, use the original audio source.
A lattice of oranges lines the skull, Each segment a thought, a memory’s pull. Peeling logic in pulpy swirls, Juice drips wisdom—sweet yet cruel. The rind holds the bitter truths, intact, A patchwork puzzle, each piece exact. Sticky and raw, the mind’s design, A tangy testament to the soul’s incline. What lies beneath the citrus weave? A zest for life, or wounds that seethe? Slices of self, exposed, laid bare, Compartmentalized dreams hung in air. Each thought, a fruit—sun-kissed, decayed, Bright with hope, or shadows arrayed. The orchard blooms, orange domains, Fragmented pieces of joy and pains. The head becomes both feast and flame, A surreal paradox we cannot name. For inside us all, the citrus mind resides, Peeling, pulsing, where chaos collides.
Instructional lyrics
[Intro – A wobbly, off-kilter melody, syncopated bass, ghostly theremin-like synths] [A detuned keyboard plinks out a drunken lullaby. The bassline slinks in, rubbery and unpredictable. A ghostly synth wails like a theremin, floating over scattered drum taps. Vocals enter, half-muttered, half-sung, as if recalling a dream through static.] Flashes of orange, static lines… Dripping light, refracted time… [Verse 1 – Playful yet disoriented, words twisting in and out of meaning] [The beat kicks in—a loose, syncopated shuffle. Guitars jangle with an unnatural brightness, slightly detuned. The vocals are casual yet conspiratorial, like telling a secret that doesn’t quite make sense.] Tangerine pulses behind my eyes, Citrus ghosts hum lullabies. Glass reflections melt and bend, A thought begins—then breaks again. [Chorus – Theatrical and exaggerated, harmonies twisting around themselves] [A sudden swell—vocals stack in eerie, layered harmonies. The bassline bounces in defiance of the melody, while warped synths shimmer like mirages. The chorus is catchy yet unnerving, like a carnival tune played slightly too slow.] Citrus mind, fragmented, Lost in loops, disconnected. Peel me back, reveal the core, Am I less, or something more? [Verse 2 – A deeper descent into surreal absurdity] [Instruments seem to breathe and stretch, like they’re trying to escape time. The drums stutter, the bassline stumbles forward. Vocals are half-whispered, as if speaking directly to the listener’s subconscious.] Memories buzz like neon flies, Tracing patterns in dead-end skies. Words collapse, reform, erase, Time dissolves—I lose my place. [Bridge – Chaotic and spiraling, a theatrical breakdown] [The rhythm fractures, instruments glitch and warp. The vocals become a panicked chant, then break into laughter, then dissolve into whispers. A theremin-like synth wails in the background, mimicking a human voice.] Echo chamber, spinning fast, Past is future, future’s past. Can’t escape, can’t rewind, Peel the rind, peel the rind… [Chorus – Reprise, bigger, more unhinged, voices overlapping] [The bass bounces harder, the drums swing wildly, synths swirl like melting colours. Harmonies stack in a dizzying, overlapping chant.] Citrus mind, fragmented, Lost in loops, disconnected. Peel me back, reveal the core, Am I less, or something more? [Outro – Dissolving into surreal nothingness] [Everything begins to slow and detune. The melody crumbles, the synth wobbles into static, the bassline stutters and vanishes. The last words are whispered as if slipping away into the void.] Flashes of orange, static lines… Dripping light, refracted time… [A final plink of the keyboard—then silence.]
