The night tried to keep us. And maybe we should’ve let it. The sun doesn’t forgive. It just exposes. It burns the truth into skin and doesn’t care if it scars. You held me like something already lost. And I held you like I could bleed fast enough to outrun the light. But the dawn came anyway— rosy and ruthless. It didn’t care what we became in the shadows. I saw you clearly, for the first time. Not the myth. Not the moonlit lover. But you. All of you. There was blood in the dawn—just not the myth’s. And I loved you more for the ruin. We stood there, dripping silence and consequence, our hands still warm from the siege we staged in each other. There was blood in the dawn. Yours. Mine. Ours. Proof that we survived by becoming the very thing we feared. And even now— bathed in the honesty of day— I’d do it again. Every wound. Every vow. Every night that nearly killed us.
Lyrics
We didn't run, we didn't cry We just stood as time walked by Your hand in mine, the light turned red Not alive, not gone, not dead We watched the sky begin to break Hearts too full, too much to fake Blood in the dawn, love in decay We made it through, but lost our way Your shadow burned into the light We held on long past what felt right Your breath still haunts the cooling air Your name still stitched inside my prayer We didn’t win, but we remained In all the ruin love had stained There was no war Just staying still A sunrise soaked In quiet kill Blood in the dawn, hearts in our hands No flags, no end, no perfect plans We lived, we loved, we lost the light But stayed to greet the morning fight
